Before airport bids, government finds land near e-way for displaced

June 5, 2019

GREATER NOIDA: With the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) set to open the financial bid document of the Jewar airport on November 29, the district administration has identified over 50 hectares of land in Jewar Bangar to be given to the families whose land is being acquired by the government for the project and have opted for land compensation.

Out of the 9,000 families whose land is being acquired, about 1,700 have asked for land to be given to them in another area, according to Jewar tehsildar Rakesh Kumar Jayant. For these families, a 50.2-hectare plot has been identified in Jewar Bangar.

“The land in Jewar Bangar is along the Palwal-Aligarh Road and is about 100 metres away from the Yamuna Expressway,” Jayant said.
The Gautam Budh Nagar administration has also expedited work of clearing files of affected families. Land is being acquired in six villages — Dayanatpur, Rohi, Kishorepur, Parohi, Ranehra and Banwariwas. The Jewar tehsildar has already cleared the files of 1,800 families, with the target of clearing 80% of them by the first week of July.

“Till June 3, we have cleared more than 1,800 files from the six villages where land acquisition is required for the airport. Out of these, 180 files have been cleared in Dayanatpur and over 550 in Ranhera. In Rohi, 205 files have been cleared, while 96 have been cleared in Parohi and Kishorepur each, among others,” Jayant said.
File clearance is a process of collating data of the landowner and the property after verification of details such as total area, ownership rights, no-dues certificate, mortgage (if any) details and ‘barah salaa’ — the record of transactions on the land from the registry and record department in the last 12 years.

The administration is also working on the rehabilitation and resettlement package for the affected families.

“We want all work related to land compensation to be completed in a time-bound manner. We have an August 30 deadline for majority of the work to be completed. Jewar airport is of national importance and all efforts are being made to facilitate its construction,” the G B Nagar district magistrate, B N Singh, said on Tuesday.
