Noida: Illegal construction in Sector 52 apartment razed

April 30, 2019

NOIDA: The Noida Authority conducted an anti-encroachment drive on Monday and razed an illegally constructed structure attached to the ground floor of a four-storey building in Aravali Apartment in Sector 52.

MRS Raghav, senior manager, work circle 5, said the Authority had developed the project a few years ago. The ground floor of the building was allotted to one Krisna Pathak in January. “We received information that the occupant was involved in encroaching on the adjacent land. We conducted an inspection and found that they had occupied much of the roads on three sides of the building and constructed an illegal structure. The encroachment had affected traffic movement in the area,” he said.

In March, the Noida Authority had served the occupants notice to remove the encroachment within one month. However, instead of complying with the notice, the occupant expedited the work, Raghav said.

The Authority also found that the allottee had made internal alteration of the walls to redesign the house. This also posed a security threat to the entire building and the occupants living on the upper floors. The Authority found this was a violation of Section 10/14 of the Noida Building Bylaws and initiated action.

On Monday, a team from the Authority reached the building, along with earthmovers, and razed the illegally constructed structure.

The official said the structure was massive and they had to work for around six hours to pull it down. The Authority will also charge the allottee the expense incurred in the anti-encroachment drive.

The encroachment in annex, an extension to the legally allotted premises, is rampant in different sectors. Some people have built guard rooms while others have developed these vacant premises as gardens.

The Authority said they will identify all such illegal structures and raze them in a systematic manner.
